Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Kayutangan area has been transformed into a heritage tourism area. No less than the outer corridor which contains many heritages in the form of old buildings. It turns out that in the inner corridor of Kayutangan, namely in the village, there are also many “hidden treasures”.
Omah Lor Gallery in Kampoeng Kajoetangan Heritage
When walking through the alley of Kampoeng Kajoetangan Heritage, you will be able to find many interesting things. Old buildings with unique architecture, various culinary delights from the past that must be tasted and a friendly and harmonious society.
In this area, there are also many unique and interesting spots that are very good as backgrounds or objects to be documented. As today's youth say, instagrammable.
One of the interesting spots that must be visited is the Omah Lor Gallery located on Jalan AR Hakim II. To visit this place, the easiest way is to enter from the alley next to Depot Es Taloen. Just a few steps from the alley gate, you will be immediately greeted by various antiques neatly arranged on the terrace of the house, including a classic yellow Vespa that is still very good.
“Anything that contains old elements, I collect. Starting from furniture, cameras, kitchen utensils, paintings, ceramics, to electronic devices. The number is hundreds, I never count. Maybe for other people these items are ordinary, but for me what is expensive is the process. The process of getting them, the process of maintaining them. Whether it is expensive or cheap is relative, depending on how people look at it,” said the owner, Achmad Irham.
Not only an exhibition gallery, in this place you can also buy and sell antiques. "Here the selling price starts from ten thousand and the most expensive is a camera starting from Rp500 thousand to even five million. All of them are still functioning," said the long-haired man.
The gallery itself has been open since 2002. According to Iink, that's what Achmad Irham is familiarly called, this gallery was created because he followed in his father's footsteps. His father was a photographer who loved antiques. It turned out that his father's hobby was also passed down to him. Not just a collection, his antiques are also often used as photo props.
“There are many camera collections here, starting from analog ones, even though it has changed to digital, I still keep this old camera. It happens that this place is used as a place to restore goods. My grandfather used to sell antique books, old books. This place also used to be a junk shop. Well, with the existence of Kampoeng Heritage, (this gallery) can certainly increase the attraction. Next, we will hold a Talun Junction event. Antiques have their own fans, so it will definitely increase visits. We want to make what is not in the outer corridor, we make it here, so that people outside can come in,” said Iink.
This place is not only an antique gallery, but visitors can also enjoy traditional food. While enjoying classical music played through old tapes or vinyl records, you can see hundreds of antiques in Iink's gallery. Visitors can also have coffee in this gallery and enjoy pecel or kue leker.
"These traditional food and drinks will certainly strengthen the branding of this village as a heritage village, an old village. So if people are looking for an old concept, their mindset goes straight to Kampung Kajoetangan," he said. (ari/ram)
