Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji tries out snacks on Car Free Day (CFD), Sunday (11/8/2022).

"A long wait, it was not held for 2 years. Alhamdulillah CFD is back. We exercise, we enjoy it and we maintain order together," said Mayor Sutiaji.

According to him, CFD on Sunday morning is one of the choices of locations to exercise and enjoy time together. CFD is held again along Jalan Besar Ijen to Jalan Semeru, Malang City starting at 06.00-10.00 WIB.

"This CFD carries a new concept, where the CFD area is extended to around Gajayana Stadium. Where in that area there is the Tugu Shopping Tourism Market," he added.

He further added that his hope is that in addition to having more areas for people to exercise, it can also bring the Tugu Shopping Tourism Market to life. So that people who pass by here can stop by the Tugu Shopping Tourism Market.

As for the CFD route that has been released by the Malang City Transportation Agency and several road closure points, there are also several parking locations that can be utilized by the public who want to enjoy the CFD, including Jalan Pahlawan Trip, Jalan Retawu, Jalan Wilis, Jalan Semeru, Jalan Buring, Jalan Guntur, Jalan Merbabu and Jalan Panggung.

In addition to the new concept proposed where CFD will connect with Tugu Shopping tourism, street vendors are not allowed to sell in and around the entrances of the CFD area. Public service centers are prepared at Simpang Balapan such as tax payment stands, SIM stands and mobile samsat and so on.

Mayor Sutiaji hopes that the people of Malang City can make good use of this public space by maintaining and implementing health protocols considering that we are currently still in the Covid-19 pandemic. (eka/ram)
