Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko attended the planting of sweet potatoes on urban farming land in Sukun Village, Malang City, Wednesday (14/9/2022).
Bung Edi, Sofyan Edi Jarwoko's nickname, said that the sweet potato planting was carried out at Rumah Alam Jaya Organik. This activity is very good, because it utilizes limited land as a productive farming location.
"Planting sweet potatoes in sacks is very good. I used to plant sweet potatoes in an official residence with limited land," said Bung Edi.
This planting is also a form of citizen initiative in meeting household food needs, as well as making green land. "I hope this activity can be successful and become an example for Malang City residents," he continued.
The owner of Rumah Alam Jaya Organik, Adam said, this sweet potato cultivation is a development effort from the previous worm cultivation business. Where worm waste is used as a medium for sweet potato cultivation in sacks.
"There is 1 hectare of land that I am currently preparing for sweet potato cultivation in sacks. This is our way of increasing food security and building educational tourism," he concluded. (cah/ram)
