How Polowijen Residents Withstand the Impact of Inflation

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Various elements of society in Malang City continue to move in an effort to withstand inflation or rising prices of a number of daily necessities. This time, residents of RW 3, Polowijen Village, Blimbing District held an exhibition and bazaar entitled Polowijen Kreatif-Ekonomi Bangkit.

After the opening of the event, the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko and the committee reviewed the exhibition and bazaar stands.

This event was held from 16-18 September and involved 121 MSME actors and local residents. After opening the event on Friday (16/9/2022), Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko said that his party was very proud of the initiative and ideas of these residents.

According to him, because public awareness is very high to rise together in the midst of unstable economic conditions and from events like this will not only boost the people's economy but is a real step to anticipate and restrain the rate of inflation.

The man who is familiarly called Bung Edi added that the community's UMKM products are very good and have high competitiveness. Such as various foods, drinks, crafts and batik that have export quality.

"In this case, the Malang City Government will continue to provide reinforcement and encourage a number of community elements to always be optimistic and to be able to hold similar activities," he appealed.

Thus, he said, the domino effect of inflation can be suppressed or minimized while waiting for the flow of social assistance from the government. "If this can be done in each region, it would be very good. "We will face one condition, namely inflation together. Moving the economy to recover stronger and the Covid-19 pandemic must also be done together," said Bung Edi.

"If we handle a program or problem together, God willing, with mutual cooperation we can recover faster and emerge stronger. Vice versa, if you walk alone, the results will not be optimal," explained the bespectacled man.

Meanwhile, Efendi as the head of the exhibition and bazaar committee said that initially he had an idea with community leaders to revive the economy, especially business actors in Polowijen so that the economic downturn would soon pass and its recovery would be faster. Finally, the idea to hold a bazaar and exhibition emerged.

Activities like this, he explained, will continue to be carried out by involving more UMKM actors and third parties. "In this village, through the tourism awareness group and youth organizations, there is already a gallery to accommodate, sell and market UMKM products from residents. So when there are no events like this, residents can still market their products," concluded Efendi. (say/ram)
