Checking Students' Health, Pandanwangi Health Center Conducts Screening at Schools

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – In order to ensure the health of Malang City residents, the Health Service (Dinkes) through health centers in Malang City is conducting health screenings for students. As was done by the Pandanwangi Health Center, Monday (19/9/2022) held a health check for students of SDN Pandanwangi 4 Malang City.

The person in charge of the School Health Unit (UKS) in the Pandanwangi Health Center's work area, Saiful Arif, said that his party routinely schedules screening of school students' health. There are a total of 31 schools under the Pandanwangi Health Center's work area consisting of 13 elementary schools/Islamic elementary schools, 12 junior high schools/Islamic junior high schools, and six senior high schools/Islamic senior high schools, all of which will receive health check-up services.

"The physical examination that we conducted on these students included, examinations starting from hair cleanliness, eyes, namely visual acuity, ear cleanliness, tooth cleanliness and growth, throat, namely whether or not there is an enlarged tonsil. Then skin cleanliness, whether or not there are wounds, the aim is to screen for yaws and leprosy. In addition, we also check their nails, cleanliness and length or not," explained the man who works as a nurse.

The results of the health checks carried out by the health center will later be submitted to the school. "So later the school will convey it to the student's guardian, if it does need follow-up, more treatment, then it will be referred to the health center to be handled," he continued.

Meanwhile, the school represented by the person in charge of the School Health Unit (UKS), Gunali Agus Pramono, S.Pd said that this examination was carried out for all students from grades 1-6. There were around 120 students who were screened today. Furthermore, health screening for these students has indeed been scheduled every year.

"We hope that the health of these children can be monitored and if there are signs of health symptoms, they can be identified early. At least if parents are not very knowledgeable about health, it is already known so that treatment is faster and easier," said the Physical Education teacher. (ari/ram)
