Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The East Java Provincial Government has stepped in to suppress the inflation rate triggered by the recent fuel price adjustment with a market operation. Labeled the East Java food barn market operation, this event began on Monday, September 19, 2022 and will be carried out continuously.
This program targets 25 traditional markets monitored by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and spread across eight districts/cities. Such as markets in Sumenep, Surabaya, Kediri, Madiun, Probolinggo, Banyuwangi, Jember, and Malang City. This time, in Malang City, market operations are placed in Pasar Besar and Pasar Dinoyo. Next, it will be added to Blimbing Market.
These were some of the things conveyed by the Head of the Malang Consumer Protection Technical Implementation Unit, East Java Diskopindag, Tri Soebijantoro on Monday (19/9/2022) when met at the Malang City Big Market. According to him, this program is a real step by the East Java Provincial Government to continue to suppress inflation and meet the community's basic food needs at low prices.
"With this market operation, it is hoped that people's purchasing power will be maintained and prevent unrest due to the increasing prices of a number of necessities or inflation," he added.
Similar market operations, said Tri, will be held next week or every Monday. The prices of all commodities sold are certainly cheaper when compared to market prices. He gave an example, granulated sugar is sold for Rp12 thousand per kilogram, while in the market it is Rp14 thousand. Likewise, eggs from a price of Rp26 thousand per kilogram in the market, are sold for Rp20 thousand during this market operation. (say/ram)
