Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) in synergy with the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror, the Malang City Forkopimda and the Ministry of Religion held a gathering of preachers and preachers in the context of Strengthening Wasathiyah Islam for a Peaceful Indonesia in the Meeting Room of the Malang City Hall, Tuesday (20/9/2022).
Head of Unit 1 of Counter Ideology Sub-Directorate of Prevention Directorate Densus 88 AT, AKBP Moh. Dofir, S.Ag., SH, MH said that radicalism is a fertile ground for the development of terrorism crimes and one of the indicators that becomes the seed of radicalism is intolerance.
"Intolerant attitudes are a form of denial of diversity and are contrary to the values of Pancasila and civilized religious norms," he said.
For that, he invited preachers and preachers to play an active role in preventing the development of intolerance and radicalism and fighting terrorism. According to him, the key strategy to prevent intolerance and radicalism is the general public, students, and community leaders with the aim of instilling Indonesian values and peaceful values.
"This activity is very strategic because the preachers and preachers go directly into the community to invite all levels of society, as well as the nation's children wherever they are, to have the courage to firmly prevent intolerance and radicalism," explained Dofir.
He further added that efforts to prevent radicalism by instilling a spirit of nationalism, open thinking and tolerance, being alert to provocation and incitement. In addition, the role of preachers and preachers is very effective in suppressing hoax news in the media, hate speech, and provocation between elements of the nation.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji in his speech when opening the activity expressed his appreciation to all parties. He said that terrorists can appear anywhere. Currently, the participants of the activity are preachers and preachers. In turn, efforts to prevent intolerance and radicalism will also be socialized to other religious groups.
"Through this activity, hopefully it can provide more value and enlightenment in a literary, communicative and implementation manner in maintaining how Malang City is conducive. Today, thank God everyone is present, thank God Indonesia is safe and orderly. We must strengthen the peace of this atmosphere," he hoped.
Also present at this event were the Malang City Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Pol. Budi Hermanto, S.IK., M.Si, Dandim 0833 Malang City, Lieutenant Colonel Cavalry Heru Wibowo Sofa, SH, Head of the Malang City Ministry of Religious Affairs Office Muhtar Hazawi and attended by 100 participants from representatives of each of the five sub-districts and Islamic organizations in Malang City.
