Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The 39th National Sports Day (Haornas) commemoration of East Java carries the theme 'Together Creating Champions'. At the event held at the Ken Arok GOR, Malang City, Friday (23/9/2022), the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, presented a number of awards. Awards were given to coaches, former athletes, and a number of athletes who won medals in several championships, such as the National Sports Week in Papua and the Asian Para Games in Solo some time ago.
In accordance with the theme carried, Khofifah invited all regional heads to continue to provide coaching and strengthening for various sports, especially for the National Sports Grand Design (DBON) for 14 sports competed in the Olympics and East Java athletes always win medals such as archery and swimming. Each region, explained the former Minister of Social Affairs, must have advantages. For example, Malang Raya with its sports tourism, Surabaya with sports science and Madiun with its sports industry.
From the existing potential, Khofifah is determined to synchronize and or collaborate all of that in order to produce a joint champion, so that athletes from East Java will speak more in every event and championship level. Such as in the Sea Games, Asian Games to the Olympics. Every regional head is also invited to continue to improve athlete development so that what is planned can be realized properly.
Khofifah also invited to build a joint commitment not only for achievement sports but also community sports. For example, the Indonesian Community Recreational Sports Federation (FORMI) whose revitalization has begun. "On the other hand, how to build a culture to popularize sports and make the community exercise, so that from all of that there will be a parallel between achievements and economic growth," he explained.
A similar statement was made by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji who also admitted that he was ready to support and realize what was instructed by Governor Khofifah. "For Malang City, sport tourism is without a doubt. Malang Regency and Batu City are strong supporters because Malang City's position is between the two areas," he said.
Mayor Sutiaji added that in the near future Malang City will be occupied by national and international scale events. Among them are the National Journalist Sports Week (Porwanas) held by the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI), the Indonesian Masters badminton championship and others. "We have prepared everything and I think this is a positive value," he added.
Furthermore, the number one person in the Malang City Government said that the infrastructure such as sports arenas and hotels are adequate. "Supported by various culinary delights, various major sports events are very appropriate to be held in Malang City. Not only from the tourism sector but also from the economic sector, it will increase significantly. So the mission of the Haornas theme for 'Together to Print Champions' will be realized optimally," concluded Sutiaji. (say/ram)
