Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Various efforts have been made by the East Java Provincial Government to provide social protection to the community in order to control inflation triggered by the increase in fuel prices. This time on Friday (23/9/2022) at the UPT Bapenda Office of Malang City, the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa handed over productive zakat assistance for ultra-micro business actors, social assistance for people with disabilities, city transportation drivers, online motorcycle taxis and for the prevention of stunting.
Khofifah said that in this program, people with disabilities who previously received IDR 300 thousand from the East Java Provincial Government now receive IDR 600 thousand and are given twice. City transportation and online motorcycle taxi drivers also receive vehicle tax exemptions. According to the former Minister of Social Affairs, Malang Raya and Surabaya Raya are areas with a fairly high inflation impact so there is additional assistance in the form of nutritious food for pregnant women and toddlers.
Assistance or subsidies are also given to fishermen and inter-regional or island crossing transportation, such as from Surabaya to Madura. On the other hand, Khofifah said, since last week her party has held a cheap market or market operation in 25 traditional markets in East Java every Monday. So it is expected to help the community in meeting their basic needs at cheap or affordable prices.
From the various forms of social protection, Khofifah also hopes that people's purchasing power is well maintained so as not to trigger poverty and unrest. A number of parties will also be involved more to support this program, especially from BUMN, BUMD, distributors and local governments.
This program was also appreciated by the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko when attending the event. The bespectacled man expressed his gratitude to the East Java Provincial Government for appointing and entrusting Malang City for the handover and realization of this assistance program.
"Of course, this assistance is very helpful and needed by the community after the adjustment of fuel prices which has an impact on inflation. We from the Malang City Government are also strengthening this program, such as through the holding of cheap markets that continue to be rolled out," explained the man who is often called Bung Edi.
