Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Education and Culture Office held the Grand Final of the 2022 Malang City Cultural Ambassador Selection at Taman Krida Budaya, Sunday (2/10/2022). The 2022 Malang City Cultural Ambassador sashes were worn by Nadhifah Rosyada and Ahmad Aizat Afiq at the event themed "8 Centuries of Tumapel Singhasari".
Head of the Malang City Education and Culture Office (Disdukbud), Suwarjana, SE., MM said that the selection of Cultural Ambassadors is one of the government's efforts to preserve and educate the wider community about Malang culture.
"Not only for the people of Malang City. But to all future generations, especially the young men and women who so far do not know about Malang culture, such as (language) walikan, cultural heritages in Malang City, museums. They must learn," he said.
Suwarjana said that cultural ambassadors are an important part of the Malang City Education and Culture Office. As cultural ambassadors, they must be able to introduce Malang culture to all groups, including guests visiting Malang City.
"So certainly all activities related to culture will always involve them. If they take steps, we will also definitely know. The nature is because we foster and save the younger generation who sometimes ignore their own culture and are easily influenced by foreign cultures. The Bidaha ambassadors are here to invite everyone to love local culture," he continued.
Head of the Cultural Division of the Malang City Education and Culture Office, Dian Kuntari, S.STP., M.Si. stated that there were a total of 140 people who went through various stages of selection so that they were filtered into 10 pairs of finalists for the 2022 Malang City Cultural Ambassadors who again showed off their talents on this peak night.
"Tonight, the 2022 Cultural Ambassadors have been selected. Our job is to foster them before they enter society to promote culture. They actually each have talents, especially in the arts. We will also develop this later. We will provide more knowledge related to culture, especially culture in Malang City. Because so far, many people think that culture is only related to art, even though culture has many elements," said Dian.
Dian revealed that the Peak Night of the Cultural Ambassador Election was actually planned with an entertainment package where there would be many performances, such as dance and music. However, seeing the situation that did not allow it, the event was simplified. "We empathize with last night's tragedy, so all forms of entertainment that were planned to be presented tonight, we canceled," he said.
Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko who attended the event also expressed his appreciation to all the finalists of the 2022 Malang City Cultural Ambassador.
"Hopefully, this Cultural Ambassador will invite more people, more young people to love and preserve the culture of Malang City," he hoped.
In his speech, Bung Edi also invited the audience to pray for all the victims of the riot tragedy during the football match at Kanjuruhan Stadium, Saturday (1/10/2022).
At the end of the event which was also attended by the heads of regional apparatus of the Malang City Government, cultural and tourism ambassadors from the surrounding areas, and campus ambassadors from several universities, a joint prayer was also held led by the Head of the People's Welfare and Community Section, Drs.
