Supit Urang Landfill Praised by PUPR Minister, Mayor Sutiaji: We are Committed

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Supit Urang Final Processing Site or TPA for waste in the Mulyorejo Village, Sukun District, Malang City is a model for similar places in the country. The reason is, the TPA which is able to accommodate 505 tons of waste per day functions optimally, its productivity is high in reducing pollution and processing waste.

The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji accompanied the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono when reviewing the Supit Urang Landfill

In that place, waste is also processed into useful goods, such as compost and recycled products. So in this case, TPA has a comprehensive function, namely reducing pollution rates and becoming a place to produce useful goods.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono when reviewing activities at the 50-hectare TPA on Thursday, October 13, 2022. At the TPA which was built in 2018, he said, previously the PUPR Ministry had disbursed assistance of IDR 250 billion.

According to Minister Basuki, all stages of processing to waste management at the landfill are running well. Such as sorting organic and inorganic waste that can still be used and which residues must be disposed of. "So that this process will extend the life of the landfill or not trigger waste overcapacity," he explained.

"To build this TPA, the government spent quite a large budget, but here it is running well. There are TPAs whose operations I have to push and some are struggling. Well, here is the good one, a good example. We built in Jambi, Sidoarjo, Jombang, and in Malang City this is good. I think this can be an example and or a place of learning for others," Basuki explained.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji said that his party will continue to maximize the function of this TPA. So that waste is no longer a problem in society and from waste also becomes one of the potential and sustainable sources of local revenue.

The number one person in the Malang City Government gave an example, such as compost fertilizer that has been distributed for free. In the future, it will be collaborated with a third party or the Malang City Government BUMD. "Thus, it will also increase productivity at this TPA," concluded Sutiaji. (say/ram)
