Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji witnessed firsthand the final of the 2022 Indonesia International Challenge badminton tournament held at the Platinum Arena, Malang City, Sunday (16/10/2022).

Sutiaji himself welcomed the holding of the Indonesia International Challenge tournament positively. According to him, this is proof that Malang City is slowly starting to recover from the sadness of the tragedy that previously occurred.
"In general, I think it's good, we're starting to rise again, the situation is also conducive. Malang City was chosen (for this event) because the enthusiasm was considered extraordinary," he said.
Sutiaji also hopes that by holding this event, it will be able to raise the spirits of badminton athletes in Malang City so that they can achieve again in regional championships that will be held later.
"Hopefully by holding this event in Malang City, it can stimulate young badminton players in Malang. Because previously in East Java Porprov we have not succeeded in winning a medal from the badminton branch," he added.
In addition to watching the five final matches, Sutiaji also presented medals to the winners of the men's singles match, which brought together two representatives from China, Weng Hong Yang and Lei Lan Xi. In addition to winning the men's singles match, another Chinese representative, Gao Fang Jie, was also able to win the women's singles match over the Japanese representative, Riko Gunji.
The three Indonesian representatives who qualified for the final match this time, were able to sweep all the wins that made Indonesia the overall champion in this event. The three Indonesian representatives were Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja in mixed doubles, Ribka Sugiarto/Lanny Tria Mayasari in women's doubles, and Pramudya Kusumawardana/Rahmat Hidayat in men's doubles.
