Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City has successfully hosted international badminton, namely the Mansion Sport Malang Indonesia International Challenge 2022. The success of the event is a reference for the KB Finansial Group Indonesia Master 2022 championship which will be held at the Platinum Arena Malang, October 18-23, 2022.

The chairman of the committee, Armand Darmaji, said that the enthusiasm of the audience and participants to appear in the international championship held in Malang City was always extraordinary. The Malang City Government provided good support in making the championship a success.
"I am sure that the competition in the KB Finansial Group Indonesia Master 2022 will be fiercer than the Mansion Sport Malang Indonesia International Challenge 2022," said Armand, Monday (17/10/2022).
Armand added that KB Finansial Group Indonesia Master 2022 is an event under the auspices of the Badminton World Federation (BWF). This tournament is below level 6 of the BWF World Tour Super 100 tournament series. This tournament is ranked higher than the Mansion Sport Malang Indonesia International Challenge 2022 which was just held in Malang City. Both in terms of prize money and the BWF ranking points provided.
"This tournament provides a total prize of 80.000 US dollars, while the Mansion Sport Malang Indonesia International Challenge 2022 has a total prize of 15.000 US dollars," said Armand.
The 2022 KB Financial Group Indonesia Master Tournament was attended by 259 participants from 12 countries, namely the United States, Canada, China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, and Indonesia (host).
For the host Indonesia in this championship will field their mainstay badminton players such as Ribka Sugiarto, Lanny Tria Mayasari, Christian Adinata, to Putri Kusuma Wardani. They will compete with foreign badminton players Wen Hong Yang (China), Parupalli Kashyap (India), Son Wan Ho (South Korea), Saena Kawakami (Japan), He Ji Ting/Zhao Hao Dong (China).
PBSI Malang City Chairman, Heri Mursyid Broto Sejati admitted that he was proud that Malang City was again trusted to host an international championship. This success cannot be separated from the extraordinary togetherness of the community and government in supporting efforts to advance badminton sports.
"Since before the pandemic until now there have been four international championships in Malang City. In the future, we hope that more international badminton championships will be held in Malang City," said Heri. (cah/ram)
