Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – For the past few days, Malang City has been showered with rain, both low and high intensity. The rain also lasted for a long time. In being alert to hydrometeorological disasters in Malang City, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji said that his party also continues to take anticipatory steps.
"Including today, we are also guarding the water gates. It is feared that it might be bright here, suddenly from there it will rain heavily. So officers will later inform the sub-districts that are passed (by the river) not to be careless," he said after attending an event at the Savana Hotel and Convention, Tuesday (18/10/2022).
Sutiaji hopes that all people will always be vigilant, not only at certain points. "Everything is prone to flooding because we cannot predict the rainfall," he said.
Sutiaji also revealed that his party was making efforts to improve infrastructure to minimize the potential for hydrometeorological disasters at several points in Malang City.
"There are diversions carried out by DPUPRPKP such as in Sawojajar. In Raya Langsep we also carry out diversions and normalization. Then we also dredge garbage and sediment," he said.
In response to several disasters in several areas of Malang Regency due to the high rainfall in recent days, the Malang City Government stated that it is ready to assist in handling them.
"Yesterday, the district asked for help from personnel and rubber boats. Then called the BPBD chief. So that means we are working together to handle this disaster," said Sutiaji. (ari/ram)
