Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – A few days after the Kanjuruhan tragedy that occurred on October 1, after the Arema FC versus Persebaya Surabaya match, Malang supporters who were members of the Aremania joint team set up a post. The post located in the KNPI Building on Jalan Kawi Number 24 C is used to verify data on victims of the Kanjuruhan tragedy, distribute aid, facilitate trauma healing and advocacy for the families of the victims.
Over time, several parties provided support, such as the Commission for People and Victims of Violence or KontraS and the Indonesian Advocates Association or Peradi Malang. Support also came from the Malang City Government and several universities as trauma healing teams.
In order to find out the latest developments regarding the existence of this post, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji and his staff visited the post on Thursday, October 20, 2022. He also appreciated the various steps taken by the personnel at this post. Such as coordination with the Malang City Government in handling victims who are being treated and for 133 families of deceased victims.
"We are only accommodating the aspirations of our friends here. Then we monitor how the processes are, and the legal process has already happened. Right now we just have to remind them, and of course what is our authority, we will do later," said the number one person in the Malang City Government.
The arrival of Mayor Sutiaji, according to the request of the Aremania joint team, he admitted that he was ready and would always oversee this problem until it was resolved. "We will not only help with material but also moral support, because Aremania basically loves peace. The 133 victims who died are a bad precedent for our football world," he added.
After the representative of the Aremania regional coordinator/regional coordinator conveyed various problems faced, Sutiaji also said that his party was very open to receiving all suggestions, input and criticism. "If there is anything, don't hesitate, just tell us or the relevant agency. Of course we will help as much as possible," he said.
The visit of Mayor Sutiaji was warmly welcomed by Aremania at the post. One of the teams at the post, Totok Satrio Nugroho, who represented his colleagues, expressed his gratitude for the concern of the Malang City Government.
"What we expect, you, mayor, can you come here to oversee our thorough investigation? Alhamdulillah, he is ready to back up to the legal system. So that is what is expected from all the families of the victims. Only people who have the soul of a lion are willing to care and come to this post," he said.
