Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Along with the third phase of the analog broadcast cessation (ASO) which will begin on November 2, 2022, the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) continues to provide information to the public regarding the migration from analog TV to digital TV.

In addition to being carried out independently, the optimization of the socialization of digital TV migration is also supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri). The Director General of Regional Administration Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dr. Safrizal ZA, M.Si said that the migration of analog to digital TV is an important phase for digital transformation in Indonesia. This was conveyed in a webinar held by the Ministry of Communication and Information, with the theme 'The Importance of the Role of Regional Apparatus in the Implementation of ASO' in East Java and Bali, Monday (31/10/2022).
According to Safrizal, there are several factors that cause this digital TV migration to need to be carried out immediately, including sufficient internet space, the implementation of laws and regulations, and the creation of improvements in the quality of digitalization of public services.
Therefore, Safrizal mentioned the importance of the role of regional officials in optimizing the socialization of digital TV migration. According to him, all parties including sub-district heads, village heads, Forkopincam, and all related parties must play an active role in educating and disseminating information to the community.
"Sub-district heads and village heads should utilize digital social media as a medium for ASO socialization, so that the community is socialized and immediately switches to digital TV broadcasts," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Communication and Informatics Service (Kominfo) of East Java Province, Dr. Hadiyono, M.Si said that for the East Java region, the implementation of ASO will not be carried out on November 2, 2022 like other regions in Indonesia. According to him, this is related to the readiness of the infrastructure and the distribution process of STB set top boxes (STB) to the public.
"After coordinating, it was decided that ASO would not be carried out on November 2, 2022 regarding the readiness of infrastructure from broadcasting institutions, multiplexer institutions, and the STB distribution process to the public," he said.
Even so, he also mentioned that currently the process of perfecting data related to the distribution of STB in East Java has also been carried out. In addition, Hadiyono hopes that the sub-district heads and village heads throughout East Java will later help the process of distributing this STB, because in addition to being part of the community's rights, it can also help optimize the process of immigration from analog TV to digital TV.
