The monitoring results of the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) in the fourth week of October 2022 stated that Malang City is included in the 51 district/city governments that did not experience price fluctuations or were stable. This was conveyed by the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian in a coordination meeting which is routinely held every week based on the president's direction in order to control inflation.

“Based on the current development of the world situation, inflation has an impact on several countries. In this era of globalization, the condition of one country will affect other countries. So we routinely monitor the condition of inflation, our economy and finances. We know it is still quite good, our current inflation is at 5,95%, relatively flat but has increased from the previous month. Our economic growth is also still good, one of the reasons is because our country is a fertile country, the natural resources of land and sea are extraordinary, this is what helps us,” explained Tito.

Furthermore, Tito revealed that the main thing is because of the cooperation, namely the movement of the central government and the movement of the regional government simultaneously together to handle the current situation so that it does not become a crisis. Therefore, Tito said that in this national coordination meeting, the price trends related to what commodities have increased or are stable, especially food, will be explained.

"So that colleagues in the regions can find out which products need to be watched out for, experiencing an increase or stability, and what suggestions and interventions must be made by the regional government. Please, colleagues in the regions to strengthen collaboration with related agencies, Forkopimda, Food Task Force, TPID so that they can intervene in detail in controlling inflation," he explained.

Based on the development and monitoring of national staple food prices conducted both daily and weekly by several related agencies such as the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the National Food Agency (Bappenas), and the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) of the Republic of Indonesia, it can be seen that the contributors to the increase in commodity prices in all provinces and districts/cities vary, such as rice, chili, broiler chicken, chicken eggs. So it is necessary to have precise and fast indicators to determine which commodities should be controlled. (eka/ram)
