Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) continues to strive to increase fiscal independence while still paying attention to regional economic dynamics, community welfare and maintaining the principle of social justice.

This was conveyed by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji when delivering the Mayor of Malang's Response to the General Views of the Factions on the Draft Regional Regulation (Ranperda) of the Malang City APBD for the 2023 Fiscal Year in the DPRD Meeting Room, Tuesday (1/11/2022).
"Collaboration between the executive and legislative as well as all elements of the hexahelix is the key to realizing the vision, mission of Malang City, one of which is to empower all for the community. Consistency and adaptation are provisions in navigating the waves of disruption," said Sutiaji.
He further explained that regional income in 2023 is projected at IDR 2,393 trillion. Which consists of 49,26% of regional original income (PAD) such as regional taxes, regional levies and others. Furthermore, 47,34% of transfer income and 3,40% of other legitimate income.
"The city government's efforts to increase fiscal independence include through intensification and extension of regional taxes and regional levies, optimization of management of regional assets, and improving the performance of Regionally-Owned Enterprises (BUMD)," he continued.
The strategies used to meet the regional tax revenue target include Tax Awareness Celebration, village visits, extension of PBB due dates, relaxation of administrative sanctions, adjustment of NJOR and NJOP, adjustment of street lighting tax rates, data collection of potential taxes, electronic tax management, strengthening socialization and education, and others.
"Various strategies to increase PAD regional levies and optimize the use of BMD are also strengthened. For strategies to increase PAD regional levies such as the preparation of potential retribution studies, reconciliation and continuous periodic monitoring and evaluation with all regional PAD collection devices such as trials of android e-parking, e-market levies and others," he said.
In addition to optimizing the demographic bonus with the creative industry, as well as developing the creative economy from upstream to downstream including the activation of MCC, the Malang City Government has prepared a package of policies to anticipate the global economic recession and is ready to oversee the security of basic materials and energy, so Sutiaji advised to remain optimistic.
