Attending the 9th JKPI National Working Meeting, Mayor Sutiaji Promotes the Spirit of Malang City Heritage

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Tepa Dance became the opening dance and marker of the 2th National Working Meeting Exhibition and Bazaar event of the Indonesian Heritage City Network (JKPI). Held and acting as the host, the City of Palembang, the Mayor of Palembang introduced the tradition of “bersiri” (chewing betel leaves) to foreign guests who attended the first day of the 11th JKPI National Working Meeting in the Museum Yard, Wednesday (2022/XNUMX/XNUMX).

A total of 73 JKPI member regencies/cities attended the 2th National Working Meeting held from 5 to 2022 November XNUMX. The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji attended in person, while bringing the spirit of Malang City Heritage.

"JKPI collectively moves to build and strengthen historical values, cultural values ​​and heritage values. For Malang City, the meaning of heritage does not only stop at the physical meaning but is also emphasized on the continuity of the noble values ​​contained therein," said Sutiaji.

He further added including inviting each generation to always appreciate and respect what has been made and produced by the predecessors (leaders). And the current factuality, he added that cultural values ​​and heritage values ​​have become a great strength for the advancement of regional tourism.

"That's what we are serious about so that the Kayutangan area development program is carried out. Including reintroducing legendary culinary delights, nothing other than the manifestation of the understanding of a heritage city, which we also always introduce in every forum like today (JKPI IX National Working Meeting_ed)," he said.

Added Sutiaji who initiated and institutionalized the Malang City Government apparatus to wear traditional clothing every Thursday, that the mission is to support cultural and historical values ​​because life really needs a legacy. So it must be accomplished and meaningful, that's why hard work together is also needed.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Bogor, Bima Aria, who is also the Chair of the JKPI Presidium at the opening of the national working meeting, Thursday (3/11/2022) invited all JKPI members to build a Documentation/Archives Data Center for Heritage Cities.

"Cultural issues are the message and mainstream echoed by JKPI to become a topic in the sustainability of national development," he explained.

So the hope is that the 9th JKPI National Working Meeting can produce new ideas in preserving cultural heritage throughout Indonesia and the archipelago, especially in areas that are part of JKPI. (eka/ram)
