Clothing made from recycled plastic waste is one of the works that attracts attention in the Photography, Fashion, and Craft Competition of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Malang City.

Galery Daur Ulang Malang is one of the UMKM engaged in the field of convection, but with recycled plastic waste materials. So that it can be a product that can have high selling value. In addition, it can reduce waste and create a clean environment, as well as create new jobs.
Nur Alfiatul Khasanah, Owner of Galery Daur Ulang Malang, said that her initial creative idea came from the existence of waste that could be sold and some that could not be sold. So for the types of waste that could not be sold, they were utilized into various recycled crafts.
"Various, there are bags, wallets and others. One of them is also recycled clothes. In my place, recycled clothes have been sold online and even to other cities such as Sulawesi, Kalimantan and others. The best-selling models are vests like this," he explained while showing recycled clothes in the form of vests worn for photo and fashion competitions.
Initially, he only created bags and wallets, but people asked so he decided to try making recycled clothes for a competition at school, which he won at that time.
"Well, the material for making recycled clothing that was demonstrated in the Photography, Fashion and Craft Competition by UMKM in Malang City is made from coffee wrappers. Previously, the material used was 'kresek' waste because it was easy to get. Then I kept trying and there were many enthusiasts. Many are for waste bank events, Adiwiyata, environmental day and others," he added.
The initial manufacturing process takes around two weeks from sorting, washing, drying to manufacturing, which is carried out by three people.
"Hopefully, public concern and awareness of the waste problem can increase because currently there are still many who do not care about waste. In fact, if we care a little, it can be useful for us," he concluded. (eka/ram)
