Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji attended the Regional Coordination Meeting for the Acceleration of Gender Mainstreaming Towards Inclusive Development at the Savana Hotel, Tuesday (8/11/2022).

Mayor Sutiaji said that gender mainstreaming is in accordance with the third mission of Malang City, namely to realize a harmonious and tolerant Malang City based on diversity and support for vulnerable communities and gender.
"I have said that the role of women has extraordinary potential. Therefore, government policies should not have disparities in the field of women's involvement," explained Sutiaji.
Where according to the Gender Empowerment Index (IDG) of Malang City, efforts are currently being made together for gender mainstreaming. Evidence of this commitment is stated in the Regulation of the Mayor of Malang Number 35 of 2011 concerning Gender Mainstreaming in the Development of Malang City.
"Our commitment to elevating gender to become a component of the nation's children in advancing Malang City," said Sutiaji.
Mainstreaming is a group or partisanship related to all components of the nation. This also includes women in all aspects of activities. Mayor Sutiaji also gave an example of how women's roles during the Covid-19 pandemic, they played so many roles. Without denying the role of men in various activities, the role of women is very strategic.
"This means it is easy to convey, the community conveys it to mothers and it will definitely be conveyed well. This is real evidence that women have a role in the development of the nation and state," explained Sutiaji.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Planning and Development Agency (Bappeda) of Malang City, Dwi Rahayu, said that the Rakorda activity is an activity that is carried out periodically. The hope is that all regional apparatuses can carry out planning and budgeting in accordance with gender responsiveness.
"There is a formula for a gender-responsive budget, so we present speakers from East Java Province," said Dwi Rahayu.
Later, participants will be taught how to make gender-responsive planning. Then they will also be given an understanding of gender which is not only male and female. But it has developed into vulnerable groups including disabilities, children, and the elderly.
The Malang City Government itself is currently budgeting Rp64 billion for gender responsive activities. The budget will later be distributed to each regional apparatus to realize gender mainstreaming in Malang City. (cah/ram)
