The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji invited the public to pray for the victims of the Kanjuruhan tragedy.

"I think 135 victims is not a coincidence. I think that if the number is added up, it becomes nine. It means that hopefully we will become nine stars, the people who were called by Allah yesterday must be remembered forever," said Sutiaji after the ceremony in the yard of Malang City Hall.

Sutiaji also said that the date of the Kanjuruhan tragedy also has a meaning if added up, the numbers in it result in eight. Where the number eight is a whole number, unbroken. Just like the citizens of Malang City who are determined to voice that this city loves peace, including in football sports activities.

"It is our firm determination that from Malang City to voice that there is no chaos in football, that football is people's entertainment, and that football should not have any game intrigues. That football maintains sportsmanship. Football upholds togetherness and football is a unifier of the nation. I think this is extraordinary. God has chosen these 135 people to be heroes. With the number nine we know it as the nine stars, a number that is widely favored. However, with the number eight it shows our firm determination, hopefully from Malang City for Indonesia and the world, it is not just words," said Sutiaji.

In commemorating the 40th day of the Kanjuruhan tragedy, Mayor Sutiaji also instructed all ASN and non-ASN in
The Malang City Government environment wore black clothes for two consecutive days, starting from Wednesday (9/11/2022) yesterday until today. This action is expected to show that the Malang City Government empathizes and as a form of moral support for the victims and their families, including all ongoing case investigation processes.

"I order all ASN and non-ASN employees to sow empathy, a sign of deep sorrow by wearing black clothing for two days," concluded Sutiaji. (ari/ram)
