Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor, Drs. H. Sutiaji reminded the Community Protectors (Linmas) to remain vigilant against the threat of radical groups in the Malang City area. This was conveyed by Sutiaji at the TNI/Polri Synergy event in Preventing Radicalism and Social Conflict for Satlinmas Members throughout the Blimbing District Area, Wednesday (16/11/2022).
Mayor Sutiaji also appreciated the role of Linmas members who have kept Malang City conducive. Sutiaji also said that Linmas members who are not married will be given privileges, namely when they get married they will be provided with a vehicle with a police number N 1 to accompany the bride and groom.
According to him, the synergy between Linmas and TNI/Polri must continue to be improved. So that Malang City does not experience unwanted things. "My father is a Linmas, I am proud of Linmas. Thank you for continuing to help build a safe and conducive situation in Malang City," said Sutiaji.
Dealing directly with the community, the role of Linmas is very much needed, including in the current situation and conditions. Where the role of Linmas is very much needed to prevent radicalism and social conflict.
For that, the Mayor of Malang also advised that Linmas as the closest to the community be involved in preventing radicalism in Malang City. For that, Linmas must be well educated, given literacy related to the problem of how to prevent radicalism.
Not only about radicalism, Linmas must also master the problem of social conflict that is very vulnerable to occur in society. For that, Linmas is expected to be able to be a shield in preventing the spread of hoax news that is feared to develop in society.
"Including social conflicts, do not let the public be easily incited by false hoax news. Linmas must also be given an understanding," said Sutiaji.
All elements of society, especially Linmas in various areas in Malang City must always be aware of the spread of radicalism by irresponsible groups. Moreover, Malang Raya is an area that has a track record of radicalism and terrorism movements.
"The arrest of three people from Malang City who are members of ISIS is clear evidence that we should be vigilant," said Sutiaji.
