Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government continues to encourage all its staff to be free from all forms of corruption. One of them is by holding Facilitation in the Framework of Preparation for Conflict of Interest Evaluation, Monday (21/11/2022). This activity was attended by 28 regional apparatuses, 102 work units consisting of sub-districts, Regional General Hospitals (RSUD), health centers, and educational units.

The activity themed 'Integrity in Managing Conflicts of Interest and Building an Anti-Gratification Culture in the City Government Environment' presented a resource person from the Directorate of Gratification of the Corruption Eradication Committee of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Indra Furqon.
On this occasion, Indra invited the participants to understand the definition of gratification. In addition, this bespectacled man also invited civil servants to be willing to report all gifts received.
Indra revealed, based on the results of a survey in 2019, it was found that only 37 percent of respondents from the community segment knew the term gratification. Meanwhile, from the government segment, only 13 percent of respondents had ever reported the gratification they received.
Many people actually do not understand the concept of gratification and consider this “gift” to be a blessing, not a form of corruption.
"The value of the money we receive is the same as our self-esteem in the eyes of the person giving the gratification. Reject gratification for the sake of self-esteem. It is not appropriate for civil servants or public officials to accept gifts for the services they provide," Indra emphasized.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji said that until now there have been no reports of receiving gratification in the Malang City Government environment. However, the mayor reminded the ASN of the Malang City Government not to get caught up in gratification, and if they do receive a gift, ASN are required to report it.
"If the one who reports the gratification is the person who received it. It is expected to report it immediately. There will be an assessment later, whether this is gratification or not. Even though it exceeds it, if it is not gratification, then it is not. The one who will assess it later will be from there (KPK)," he said.
"I need commitment. Really? Mr. Indra is here to remind us (to avoid gratification and report gifts received)," he concluded.
Malang City itself has Malang Mayor Regulation Number 13 of 2022 concerning Guidelines for Gratification Control in the Malang City Government Environment, as a follow-up to Corruption Eradication Commission Regulation Number 2 of 2019 concerning Gratification Reporting. (ari/ram)
