Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Another brilliant achievement was made by the Malang City Government (Pemkot) which successfully won four awards from six categories competed in the 2022 Public Relations Media Award (AMH) which carried the theme 'Public Relations Spirit for Indonesia to Recover Faster and Rise Stronger'. This is the highest achievement throughout Malang City's participation in this prestigious national event.

The award was received directly by the Head of the Malang City Communication and Informatics Service (Diskominfo), Muhammad Nur Widianto, S.Sos at the 2022 Public Relations Media Award (AMH) night held by the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) in Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Thursday (24/21/2022).
The four awards received by Malang City in the annual national competition for government public relations personnel were second place in the Online Media Press Release Category, first place in the Public Communication Campaign Category, second place in the Website Category and first place in the Audio Visual Media Category.
Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo), Johnny G Plate, said that government public relations which carries out the function of Government Public Relations (GPR) is considered to have a central role in disseminating information to the public.
"The role of Government Public Relations in providing accurate and factual information to the public is crucial. Because at least 10.691 hoax issues have been found in the period from August 2018 to early November 2022," said Minister of Communication and Information Johnny.
So, in the midst of the rapid rate of information dissemination, according to him, the urgency of the government's public relations GPR is greater to be able to provide accurate information and correct misinformation that is spreading in the community.
"GPR also has a role as a bridge of communication of government work programs to the community. As a channel of public communication, GPR must also be able to educate and mobilize the community to choose credible sources of information as their reference," he said.
He further revealed that in the future, public relations challenges are considered to be increasingly diverse and even unpredictable. Where faced with various challenges, such as digital technology disruption, the Covid-19 pandemic and very dynamic geostrategic conflicts. However, he is sure that these challenges will be overcome well.
In line with what was conveyed by the Minister of Communication and Information, the Head of the Malang City Communication and Information Service, Muhammad Nur Widianto, responded to the direction by saying that his party would continue to strengthen the role of disseminating information related to government programs to the community, especially in Malang City.
"Alhamdulillah, we express our gratitude for this appreciation. Of course, we express our gratitude, not least for the direction of the mayor, deputy mayor and regional secretary and the good cooperation with all regional apparatuses. Also of course all ranks who have and continue to work hard to improve information dissemination, public communication, city potentials in the spirit of supporting economic recovery according to this year's AMH theme," he said.
He further added that this achievement is an extra motivation to build better, more constructive and dignified communication with various elements of Malang City society.
The 2022 AMH Awards were given in six categories, namely social media, press releases, websites, public communication campaigns, internal magazines, and audio-visual media participated by ministries and institutions, local governments and BUMN and universities. In addition, there were also two special awards, namely the overall champion and the award for Public Information Counselor (PIP).
The jury team consists of experts and professionals in their fields, namely social media practitioner Wicaksono or known as @ndorokakung as the social media judge, Kumparan editor-in-chief Arifin Asydhad as the website judge, CNN Indonesia editor-in-chief Titin Rosmasari as the audio-visual media judge, Kompas.com editor-in-chief Wisnu Wicaksono as the press release judge, and the Head of LPPSP FISIP Universitas Indonesia as the Public Communication Campaign judge.
From the results of the jury team's assessment carried out during the October-November period, Malang City won second place in the Online Media Press Release Category, first place in the Public Communication Campaign Category, second place in the Website Category and first place in the Audio Visual Media Category and was nominated as a winner for the online magazine category.
