Driving the Community Economy from the Polowijen Cultural Village

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The traditional arts inherited from our ancestors, especially a number of regional dances, must be maintained, preserved and inherited by the young generation of this nation. At least this is what triggered the holding of the Nusantara cultural festival in the Polowijen Cultural Village (KBP), Blimbing District, Malang City, Sunday (27/11/2022).

Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko conveyed the importance of collaboration in managing thematic villages

Dozens of students from several universities and several regions, such as Papua, Sumatra, and Sulawesi presented their respective regional dances. In addition, cultural activists, religious figures and community leaders were directly involved in the event which also showcased a number of superior products of this village. Such as Malangan masks, musical instruments, old-time food and drinks and souvenirs.

Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko after opening the event said that this event must be held routinely. According to him, the impact of this event is very large, especially from the economic side. "With the various attractions and potentials in this village, it will attract tourists, both domestic and foreign. From here the community's economy will grow," he said.

Furthermore, the man who is often called Bung Edi said that Kampung Polowijen has good competitiveness as a sub-district. Here there is not only a cultural village but there is a dolanan village, there is a fruit chip business that is already known everywhere and small business activities that are growing well.

"If this event is combined in one activity on the same day, then this will be an extraordinary activity. Hopefully, the economy will grow and eventually the welfare of the Polowijen community will recover soon," explained the bespectacled man.

Collaborating with third parties and the Malang City Government, said Bung Edi, the thematic villages in this city will become tourist destinations that attract tourists. He gave an example, when tourists come, of course they need food and drinks and various souvenirs. Then automatically the community's economy will be boosted significantly. (say/ram)
