Malang City's 2022 Human Development Index Second Highest in East Java

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Human Development Index (HDI) in Malang City continues to increase from year to year. From 81,45 in 2020, in 2021 it reached 82,04. Now in 2022 it has increased to 82,71. This data was conveyed by the Head of BPS Malang City, Erny Fatma Setyoharini through the Official Statistics News (BRS) of Malang City, Thursday (1/12/2022).

"In 2022, Malang City's Human Development Index grew by 0,82 percent. In the period 2013-2022, Malang City's Human Development Index grew by an average of 0,59 percent per year," said Erny.

Erny explained that based on the achievement of the Human Development Index based on its components, there has also been an increase. In terms of health as measured by Life Expectancy (UHH), in 2022 the population of Malang City has a UHH of 73,75 years, up from 73,36 years in 2021.

Furthermore, from the knowledge dimension measured through the Expected Years of Schooling (HLS) of 15,76 years with an Average Length of Schooling (RLS) of 10,69 years in 2022. Although not very significant, this component has also increased because in the previous year the HLS of Malang residents was 15,75 years with an RLS of 10,41 years.

Likewise, the dimension of a decent standard of living as viewed from per capita expenditure per year also increased. From IDR 16.663.000,00 in 2021, it increased by IDR 234.000,00 to IDR 16.897.000,00 in 2022.

"When compared to other regencies/cities in East Java, Malang City's HDI achievement has reached a very high level along with Surabaya City, Madiun City, and Sidoarjo. In terms of ranking, Malang City's HDI is ranked second after Surabaya City among 38 regencies/cities in East Java," he said. (ari/ram)
