Pandanwangi Health Center Educates Hasyim Asyari Elementary School Jumantik Cadres

Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – In order to educate students of Hasyim Asyari Elementary School, Pandanwangi Health Center conducted school mosquito control activities, empowering school residents to stop the breeding of dengue fever mosquitoes.

Health Promotion of Pandangwangi Health Center, Enis Retonowati, SKM revealed that today's activity at Hasyim Asyari Elementary School is part of the school empowerment effort. The activity is empowering school residents by involving students as mosquito larvae monitors (jumantik) at school.

"This activity is expected to be a good event to educate students to become mosquito larvae control officers and stop the breeding of dengue fever mosquitoes," explained Enis.

In this event, jumantik cadres were formed in schools as a form of school empowerment in breaking the chain of dengue fever mosquito development. This activity is also part of an effort to help schools create a clean and healthy environment.

"Dengue fever can attack anyone and its location can be anywhere. Therefore, there must be a systematic effort to overcome it together," Enis emphasized.

Enis added by empowering schools and making them have jumantik cadres who can monitor cleanliness in their school environment. Where today's activities are specifically for grade VI students.

"In the future, schools can develop for themselves which classes will be made the larvae monitoring teachers," said Enis.

For the area under the Pandanwangi Health Center, there are around 30 elementary schools. In Hasyim Asyari Elementary School, this is a pilot project first. Later it will be developed in 30 existing schools. By teaching grade VI elementary school students, it is hoped that in the future the students can pass on the knowledge they have to their friends and juniors. In addition, when they return to their respective homes, they can help their parents and their environment from an early age to recognize and help handle mosquito larvae from the smallest environment.
