Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Mbois 7 Festival series has been running since Thursday (8/12/2022) which was initiated by the Malang City Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade Service (Diskopindag) in collaboration with Malang Creative Fusion (MCF). This series of events will run until December 11, 2022 at the Malang Creative Center (MCC).
Nusantara Rainbow Workshop (Pelanusa) at the Disability Corner of the Malang Creative Center (MCC)
This event is one of the venues for creative industry players in Malang City to expose and promote their products and works. One of the interesting activities in the Mbois 7 Festival is the Indonesian Perca Festival (Inapatch 2022). A sub-activity festival consisting of a textile exhibition, creative talk show, and workshop. This activity was carried out on the initiative of Pelangi Nusantara (Pelanusa). Pelanusa is a community engaged in the craft sector based on human empowerment. This community has been established since 2012.
Founder of Pelanusa, Endahing Noor Suryanti said that initially Pelanusa was present to accommodate women who had social problems. But now, Pelanusa has also become a place to develop abilities for the disabled.
"We have been moving towards inclusion for the past five years. So in one class we mix them, there is no distinction between them. So there are female and disabled colleagues. This is what makes them confident and feel accepted in any community. We also teach them how to start a home business, and how to be part of a community," he said.
Not only an exhibition of patchwork products, on this occasion Pelanusa also has an exhibition of various fabric and embroidery craft products, as well as embroidery workshops for women and the disabled. In addition, it also collaborates with the UPT Rehabilitasi Sosial Bina Netra Malang to display and sell products made by blind people through the disability corner.
"I see that my friends with disabilities have potential that must be accompanied, directed, and developed. So that they become confident people. They should not be underestimated. Because they have products that are not inferior to normal people," said the woman who is familiarly called Yanti.
Yanti said that Pelanusa's dream is to achieve shared prosperity. According to her, the Mbois Festival is an event for creative economy actors to embrace 17 creative economy sub-sectors, including crafts that Pelanusa is engaged in.
"These millennial friends are very welcoming to us to become creative economy actors. So it's not just about being an MSME. But an MSME that has added value, social awareness, and other values. It is assisted starting from design, technology, online marketing. That's what makes us excited and moving," he concluded. (ari/ram)
