Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) is committed to realizing a Dignified Malang, one of which is by involving all groups in Malang City. The Malang City Government also always ensures that all religions can safely and comfortably carry out their worship.
The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji together with the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko met directly with the Malang Echo of Love Blessing Community (BMGK), Tuesday (14/12/2022). BMGK is a Protestant Christian religious community whose members consist of various church denominations in Malang City.
"The Christian community of Malang City hopes that activities like this will be maintained and run well. The church in Malang City is certainly part of the Malang City community. The church also always prays for the welfare of Malang City, as well as for the country," said the Chairman of BMGK, Rev. Gideon Liang Soegiarto.
Gideon also said that Christians hope that churches in Malang City will receive government attention. Gideon also said that Christians hope to be a blessing to Malang City.
Deputy Mayor of Malang, Sofyan Edi Jarwoko said that religious harmony in Malang City can be maintained together. He, who is also the Chairman of the Advisory Board of FKUB Malang City, said that harmony must start from the smallest community. So that harmony in Malang City can be realized.
Furthermore, Sofyan Edi revealed, the Malang City Government is trying to continue to facilitate places of worship. In addition, the Malang City Government also continues to pay attention to religious organizations to build a harmonious life in Malang City comprehensively.
"God willing, we will be able to care for and maintain everything together thanks to the help of all parties with government facilities and also high attention from the mayor in order to realize religious harmony," he said.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Malang, Sutiaji said that the mission of the Malang City Government is to provide security and comfort to all religious adherents. The rights of every religious person must be upheld. So that there is no disruption in carrying out worship.
"Indonesia was built on the basis of the fifth principle, namely social justice for all Indonesian people. So that no one is disturbed and disturbed. Therefore, representation of all religions is very important. FKUB is expected to bring voices from representatives of each religion. What is the problem can be conveyed. So that there is mediation, two-way communication," he explained.
"We also encourage regional apparatus to create policies that are not disparate. In accordance with the third mission, the Malang City Government strives to ensure that vulnerable groups including minority groups must be protected. It is impossible for us to focus on just one religion," he said.
On this occasion, Sutiaji hopes that all parties will not be easily provoked by things that can break the unity and harmony of religious communities in Malang City. "Do not be provoked by the interests of people who are not happy with the stability of our harmony. Please be aware of misleading news that damages the integrity of Indonesia and the integrity of our nation's diversity," he said.
The lively dialogue was held at the Gereja Kristus Tuhan (GKT) Congregation III. Also attended by pastors who are members of BMGK, the Head of FKUB Malang City, related regional apparatus, the Klojen Sub-district Head, and the village heads throughout Klojen Sub-district. (ari/ram)
