Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Ahead of the arrival of Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023, the community's need for rice, granulated sugar and cooking oil usually increases significantly compared to normal days. Regarding this, the people in Malang Raya, Pasuruan City and Pasuruan Regency need not worry. Because the stock of these three necessities is guaranteed to be safe for the next three months.

Currently in the warehouse of Perum Bulog Malang Branch there are 6.000 tons of commercial rice and government reserve rice, 125 tons of granulated sugar and 14 thousand liters of cooking oil. This was conveyed by the Head of Bulog Malang Branch, Siane Dwi Agustina on Friday (16/12/2022) when met at her office.
The stock of these necessities, he said, is in two Bulog warehouses in Malang and two more warehouses in Pasuruan City and Pasuruan Regency. If in the near future there is a price spike, Siane admitted that he will hold a market operation with the regional governments in the five regencies/cities to control the price increase.
Meanwhile, the scarcity of rice in November and December this time, explained the woman in hijab, was because the harvest period was still long and on the other hand the needs of the community were increasing. In addition to market operations, in order to control prices, Bulog will distribute medium quality rice to a number of traditional markets and retail stores that are monitored by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade Service, local areas.
With this stock, Siane appealed to the public not to be anxious, especially regarding the issue or information of rice shortages in the market and the high price of rice from this condition. If in the near future there is a big harvest in an area, then Bulog will absorb rice at the farmer level or propose additional stock to the central government.
Some of these things were agreed by the Head of Diskopindag of Malang City, Eko Sri Yuliadi. He admitted that he would always coordinate with several parties, especially Bulog in an effort to stabilize the price of necessities so that there would be no unrest in the community.
"We have been monitoring prices in the market and conducting regular market operations. For now, the price of necessities is still relatively stable and if there is an increase, it is still within reasonable limits. What needs to be realized is that the phenomenon of increasing prices of necessities ahead of Christmas and New Year or other holidays often occurs. So I hope the public does not panic," concluded Eko. (say/ram)
