Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Seeing the extent of the handling of the elderly group (lansia) living alone in Malang City, the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko went directly to the Peduli Kasih Foundation, Wonokoyo Village, Klojen District, Malang City, Wednesday (21/12/2022).

Sofyan Edi Jarwoko said that coincidentally the mothers in Karang Wreda, Klojen District, had an agenda to visit the Peduli Kasih Foundation in Wonokoyo. This foundation has activities to accommodate elderly people who are alone and over 60 years old.
"Fully cared for, free physical and mental health. The elderly mothers invited me to come here," he explained.
Edi added that his party had the opportunity to meet with Mrs. Miftah, the manager of the Peduli Kasih Foundation and also the owner. It is extraordinary that there are around 16 elderly mothers living alone and 14 elderly fathers who are being treated in this place.
"Everything is free and all the elderly are given good care, this is extraordinary," said Edi.
This activity is important to know. Because the government has also provided good health services from the Kedungkandang Health Center. From BPJS services too, as well as coordination, communication and synergy with the Malang City P3AP2KB Social Service.
"I saw firsthand the condition of the elderly who were being treated. Alhamdulillah they were happy, joyful, and at home," explained Edi.
The elderly who are cared for by Yayasan Peduli Kasih come from various origins, some from Malang City, Lawang, Ngebruk, Lampung, and various other regions in Indonesia. All of them no longer have families, according to Yayasan Peduli Kasih's rules, they can be accepted here if they are alone.
"Already old, over 60 years old, can only be treated in this place. I express my gratitude. This is very good as a form of community participation in handling elderly problems in Malang City," he concluded. (cah/ram)
