Malang Mayor Gives Answer to Draft Regional Regulation on Library Management

Malang, (malangkota.go.id)– The reading interest index of Malang City residents is currently 3,04 percent. Although this figure is quite high, it must continue to be increased, especially for students and young people in general. To realize this, it must also be supported by various real steps so that the reading interest rate will increase, so that it will later help educate the nation's children.

Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir H Sofyan Edi Jarwoko read out the Mayor of Malang's response to the draft regional regulation on library management.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Mayor of Malang, Ir H Sofyan Edi Jarwoko in a plenary meeting with the agenda of Delivering the Mayor of Malang's Response to the Views of the DPRD Factions on the Draft Regional Regulation on Library Management at the Malang City DPRD building on Wednesday (21/12/2022).

Answering questions from other factions, the bespectacled man said that the Malang City Government has taken various real steps. Such as collaborating with universities, optimizing the function of regional libraries, adding reading corners and encouraging educational institutions. "Schools must often hold competitions to create stories, understand the history of the nation and make studies," added the man who is familiarly called Bung Edi.

Furthermore, he said that the Malang City Government will also facilitate a number of libraries in the villages, especially those that have not been optimally utilized. "With the existence of the draft regional regulation that will later become a regional regulation, it will also support the program, especially in terms of budget," explained Bung Edi.

"The Public Library and Regional Archives Service of Malang City has developed a digital library, namely Malang Cilin (city library and information) digital, access and reading point services (web-based) and the development of the mmobilib (Malang mobile library) library service application with digital membership card facilities. From this, it will also increase the public's interest in reading," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Malang City DPRD, I Made Riandiana Kartika said that his party appreciated the various efforts of the Malang City Government. "After the Mayor of Malang gave his answer today, we immediately formed a special committee (pansus) and this draft regulation is targeted to be completed in January or February 2023," he said.
