Together with Prof. Syamsul Arifin (Vice Rector 1 of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang), Kholifah Agsha R (Co Founder of Centennial), Kezia Milenia J (President of AISEC in Universitas Brawijaya), resource persons in the discussion Reflection of Generation Z outlook 2022 for the progress of the generation at Bakorwil Malang.
Sofyan Edi Jarwoko revealed that Malang City in East Java has the highest unemployment rate. The unemployment rate was taken from residents who have Malang ID cards or residents who have ID cards, not Malang City but are domiciled in Malang City.
"We know that Malang City is dedicated as a city of education, there are around 50 to 60 universities. Hundreds of thousands of students from all over the country, once they graduate, may still be waiting for their Masters or looking for work," said the Deputy Mayor of Malang.
Actually they have activities even though they will graduate soon, they can do business through their skills, but there is no job as stated in the ID card. Personally, they actually have income from year to year, this problem is never resolved.
Always a problem in this city, then in accordance with the ideals of the citizens of Malang City that Malang becomes a city of education, a city of tourism, and industry. Malang as a city of education, God willing, has gained the trust of the people of the archipelago, the tourist city is already well known, especially with the existence of Batu City and Malang Regency.
The Deputy Mayor of Malang, who is familiarly called Bung Edi, said that education and tourism have found a place for the citizens of the archipelago and the world who are present in this city. Malang as an industrial city, sometimes a period of the Mayor of Malang strengthens it with the manufacturing industry and other large industries.
"We who have the opportunity to be entrusted to lead Malang City for five years, try to explore the issue. We choose that this creative industry is the one that can answer the high unemployment rate in Malang City," he said.
The potential in Malang City is abundant and has knowledge, skills, and others. So the concentration to answer the problem is by concentrating on the creative industry. There are around 17 creative industry sectors being developed. In 2019, Malang City was designated as a creative city by the central government.
