Malang, (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Mayor, Drs. H. Sutiaji inaugurated 67 functional teacher officials who were assigned as principals at the Kindergarten, Elementary, and Junior High School levels in Malang City, Wednesday (28/12/2022). The inaugurated principals consisted of 25 principals whose terms of office were extended, 27 principals who were rotated and 15 new principals.
Meanwhile, based on the level of school where they work, the inaugurated principals consist of one kindergarten principal, 55 elementary school principals, and 11 junior high school principals.
Not only confirming, the mayor also delivered his message to the principals. Sutiaji said that the current educational paradigm has shifted. Including the demands of society have also begun to shift. Likewise, the level of literacy of the community related to education is also getting better. The growth and development of technology goes hand in hand with the paradigm shift. As educators, of course, this development must be followed.
"Let's strengthen literacy related to pedagogy, the teaching and learning process. We must continue to follow it, because the discoveries and teaching and learning methods of the past may no longer be significant with the current conditions. Strengthen literacy by reading, so that in the future children will become tough individuals, love their country, and are also tough towards themselves, they can assimilate and acculturate with the existing situation," he said.
Sutiaji assumes that children are like plants. Teachers are asked to recognize their students, including their character. So that the material and teaching methods provided can be appropriate.
"Especially as a principal who has the task of manager and leader. Good communication with all components of the school both internal and external must be strengthened. Do not make policies that are baseless. Because later it will affect the dynamics of the teaching and learning process in schools," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City Education and Culture Office, Suwarjana, SE., MM said that the newly promoted principals had become driving teachers, had graduated from the Prospective Principal Training (CKS), and these new principals had one experience as vice principal.
However, Suwarjana said, there are still elementary schools that have not filled the principal position. Because of the minimal availability of elementary school principal candidates. "Indeed, now to become a principal there is an ease, namely it can be from a moving teacher by fulfilling certain provisions. For example, the minimum group and rank must be III/c. However, for Malang City, we are still adding principal management. So we will prepare it first. In our opinion, we must guide, direct for management," he concluded. (ari/ram)
