The starting point of the bike ride was from Malang City Hall and ended at Kedungkandang Village Office. There were seven points of aid distribution locations visited by the Mayor of Malang and his entourage. In addition to being underprivileged, the recipients of aid that became the mayor's concern were also because some of his residents were experiencing illnesses such as mental disorders, disabilities, stunting, and strokes.

The Mayor of Malang together with the National Alms Agency (BAZNAS) of Malang City on this occasion delivered assistance in the form of cash and basic food packages to the seven families.

"Since the beginning of 2023, we have launched Sambang Warga every Friday and all regional apparatuses are involved. This is so that we know the real situation in the field besides hearing the aspirations of the community, so that we know what our programs are, whether they are right on target. We will go around the sub-districts and also provide various services. Later we will eat together, join together, so that there are no boundaries and day by day the community's legitimacy towards the government is getting stronger, getting better," explained the man who is also a badminton enthusiast.

Mayor Sutiaji and the Malang City Government plan to visit two sub-districts every week. Together with the Sambang Warga program in these sub-districts, the Malang City Government also provides several public services such as from the Population and Civil Registration Service (Dispendukcapil), Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), Manpower, Investment and Integrated One-Stop Service Service (Disnaker-PMPTSP), Perumda Tugu Tirta, Bank Jatim, and the Cooperatives, Industry and Trade Service (Diskopindag) so that residents can access services more easily and closely.

At the last point, namely at the Kedungkandang Village Office, the Mayor of Malang and his staff had a dialogue with the community. Various problems were conveyed in this warm dialogue.

Such as proposals to relocate landfills (TPS), improve road access, and even problems with waterlogging. All complaints and input from residents were heard directly by the Mayor of Malang which will then be discussed in a coordination meeting.

"We will hold a coordination meeting. Whose job is this and I ask that by Wednesday there will be a report to us. Today or tomorrow at the latest there will be a survey to the houses that I think need improvement and hopefully next month there will be handling. We will continue to accelerate this including access to information and execution, so that the presence of the state in the midst of society can be increasingly felt," said Sutiaji.

The purpose of this Community Visiting activity is for the ranks of the Malang City Government to know the facts that occur in the community. "By knowing the real conditions in the field, the Malang City Government is able to formulate strategic plans and solutions to problems experienced by residents," he added.

Mayor Sutiaji said that he did not only visit residents. Periodically, accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Malang City and assistants, the Mayor of Malang will also review how public services are provided by regional apparatuses.

"So that we know from two directions, from the public knowing and we also control the readiness of services and the acceleration of services from our officers," he concluded. (ari/yon)
