Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – Mbah Mujeni, an elderly woman who lives alone with her beloved pet duck in a simple house that is far from being well maintained in Gg. 8, Tlogomas, Lowokwaru District, Malang City.
In the house with worn walls and a poorly maintained yard, there were toys displayed in the windows of the house. In another corner, there was also a pile of junk. However, Mbah Mujeni lived her daily life happily and sincerely, no expression of sadness or distress was visible.
At the age of 82, Mbah Mujeni is still enthusiastic about working. In fact, the grandmother is still able to walk to Dau to trade. Every day, Mbah Mujeni earns a living by selling various children's toys to schools. Often, Mbah Mujeni also collects scrap to earn a living.
Mbah Mujeni's house was one of the points of visit of the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji and his entourage during a cycling trip (gowes) together which was combined with a meeting with residents in Merjosari Village, Tlogomas Village, and Dinoyo Village, Friday (13/1/2023).
After reviewing the condition of the house and having a direct dialogue with Mbah Mujeni, Mayor Sutiaji instructed the relevant regional apparatus together with the RT and RW to make improvements, such as installing paving in the yard and tidying up the contents of the house.
"So that it will be nice later, pave (the yard). Tapi gak oleh digawe rosokan (But it must not be used as a place for scrap). Ndek njero dibenakno sing apik, ben saged kanggo sholat (The inside of the house should be fixed nicely, so it can be used for prayer)," said the bespectacled man.
Sutiaji on this occasion also handed over some assistance in the form of three basic food packages and cash. "Thank you, Mr. Mayor of Malang. Kula pingin dibenakaken griyo kula (I want my house to be repaired_ed)," said Mbah Mujeni softly.
In addition to Mbah Mujeni, there are eight points in the Merjosari, Tlogomas, and Dinoyo Sub-districts visited by the Mayor of Malang along with the ranks of the Malang City Government. (ari/yon)
