Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The glow of happiness radiated from the faces of the bride and groom who attended the mass wedding, Saturday (14/1/2023). Three Malang City Tour (Macito) buses departing from Malang City Hall took the bride and groom for a short tour around Malang City then headed to the Grand Mercure Malang Mirama Hotel to undergo the wedding procession.

There were 19 couples who performed the marriage confirmation at the mass marriage event initiated by the Malang Tahes Club (MTC). The participants of the mass marriage varied in age, ranging from 22 years old to those over half a century old. The atmosphere of emotion mixed with laughter was seen when the ijab Kabul process led by the viral cleric of Malang City, Ustaz Anas Fauzi, took place.
Fortunately, in addition to being held in a five-star hotel with very nice, magnificent decorations, and various entertaining performances, this mass wedding was also attended by the Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji, Chairperson of the Malang City PKK TP, Widayati Sutiaji, Pangdivif 2/Kostrad Major General TNI Syafrial, PSC, M.Tr. (Han), Danlanal Malang Colonel Laut (KH/W) Dewi Lestari, and also several other VIP guests.
Malang Mayor Sutiaji also greatly appreciated the holding of this mass wedding event. According to him, this mass wedding is also an education for the community that marriage must not only be valid in the eyes of religion, but also must be legal. The community needs to understand that in building a marriage also requires legal administration, not only in the eyes of religion, but also in terms of state law.
"Marriage is not only important in the eyes of religion. But we are a country, when later a husband and wife have children, and it is not administered, later the effects will be long-term including inheritance letters and so on. That must be understood by the people of Malang City," said the bespectacled man.
Meanwhile, MTC General Chairperson Yusron Virmanza said that this mass wedding activity was the first to be carried out in his community. However, the activity titled Wedding Charity is touted as a premium mass wedding that has never been found before.
"This mass marriage is intended for those who have previously been married religiously but have not registered it administratively and legally in the eyes of the state," explained Yusron.
Yusron also mentioned that the participants of this mass wedding also received some interesting gifts, such as a set of cosmetics, savings, and round-trip plane tickets from Malang to Jakarta from Garuda Indonesia. In addition, participants also received an induction stove from PLN and accommodation facilities at a five-star hotel where they held their wedding. (ari/yon)
