Malang City's Efforts to Minimize Illegal Racing

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – In Malang City, the last drag bike automotive championship was held around 9-10 years ago. Meanwhile, the quality of the racers in this city labeled the City of Education is quite good and is not inferior to other regions. This is what triggered Maulana Kusna Surindra to hold the Mayor's Cup drag bike championship at the Malang City Rampal Field circuit, Sunday (15/1/2023).

The racers compete to be the best

The championship, which competed in 20 classes and was attended by 77 racers from East Java and Central Java, was opened by the Head of the Youth, Sports and Tourism Agency (Disporapar) of Malang City, Baihaqi, S.Pd, SE, M.Si. According to him, this drag bike was held as a way to suppress illegal racing, channel the talents of young people, and find talented racers.

Baihaqi added, although currently Malang City does not have an official circuit, there are many roads in Malang City that can be used as a circuit without disturbing public order. He said that his party will study the extent and how many enthusiasts and talents there are in this very adrenaline-pumping automotive sport. "If the potential is great, it is not impossible that Malang City will have an official circuit," he continued.

"This is one form of our concern to provide a solution for racers who may still be (racing) illegally in their hometowns. This extraordinary committee provides a place and facilities to channel the talents of these young people," added Baihaqi.

Meanwhile, Maulana Kusna Surindra as the chairman of the committee said that he strongly agreed with the discourse of the Head of the Malang City Disporapar. Apart from the participants, the community also seemed very enthusiastic when there was an automotive event like this. "When this event is held routinely, the economic and tourism sectors will also increase significantly," he explained.

"Hopefully this kind of event will be a stimulus to attract the government's attention to automotive events, so that one day Malang City will have or be made a permanent circuit," hoped the bespectacled man from Ponorogo. (say/yon)
