Rujak Semeru, Legendary Culinary Favorite of Tourists

The delicious taste and large portion make this rujak a long-time favorite. This legendary sweet rujak has been around since 1980. It was founded by Ponidi and Soeparti. Until now, with the help of her son, Soeparti still manages her culinary business.

"Initially using a cart. Selling on Jalan Tangkuban Perahu while selling cigarettes. Then moved to Jalan Semeru in 1986," said Niko, son-in-law of Mrs. Soeparti.

Niko said that the characteristic of Rujak Semeru is its jumbo portion with large slices of fruit and of course the fruit is always fresh. In addition, the rujak seasoning and tofu petis seasoning are always fresh and the taste has remained the same since its inception. No wonder, this shop is almost always crowded, especially on weekends and holiday seasons.

In one serving of rujak, there are pieces of jicama, young mango (pencit), papaya, melon, pineapple, starfruit, cucumber, and tofu. One serving of Rujak Semeru can be enjoyed by two people. The spices served separately are no less abundant. In the same plate, the spices have been mixed, the chili sauce is not mixed, so customers can mix the level of spiciness of the rujak spices according to their own taste.
