Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – In the midst of the drizzle that poured down on Malang City that morning, the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji, along with the regional apparatus within the Malang City Government (Pemkot) remained enthusiastic about cycling (gowes) in the morning to visit residents in the Kauman and Bareng Sub-districts, Klojen District, Friday (20/1/2023).
Not only accommodating the aspirations of the community, the program of visiting residents that has been running three times, the Mayor of Malang also distributes direct assistance to vulnerable residents in need. There are eight locations in the Klojen District area that were visited.
The locations where vulnerable residents were visited and received assistance were the elderly, people with disabilities, people with mental disorders (ODGJ), children with stunting and residents who have uninhabitable houses.
"Sambung sambang is a routine activity that is carried out in a disciplined manner. Accommodating aspirations and formulating solutions and empathizing wholeheartedly," explained the bespectacled man.
According to him, in addition to building facilities and infrastructure, the government must continue to be present in every activity. Including also paying attention to the condition of society, because leaders and the government have a duty to serve the people by doing and being useful for the community.
One of the residents visited by Mayor Sutiaji was Sugito (63 years old). The resident of Jl. Bareng Kartini lives in a less habitable house with a mediocre economy. On this occasion, the Mayor of Malang handed over a number of aids in the form of basic food packages and cash.
"I live here alone, taking care of my sick wife until she died. But thank God, even though my salary is not enough, I always get help from BLT so that I can cover the needs of taking care of my sick wife. For food, thank God I also get help from the Social Service. Matur nuwun (thank you)," said Sugito while holding back tears.
Sugito expressed his gratitude and thanks to the local sub-district who also provided attention and assistance from various parties that were very useful for him. After his wife's departure, Sugito tried to get up and live his life enthusiastically. He felt that the presence of the Malang City Government could help his condition.
At the last point of the route of visiting residents, the Mayor of Malang and the ranks of the Malang City Government held a dialogue with residents at the RW 9 Hall, Kauman Village, which is part of the Kayutangan Heritage Tourism Area.
This community visit activity is the third time held by the Malang City Government after previously being held in Kedungkandang District and Lowokwaru District. This community visit program is a routine agenda and will continue to be held around the villages in five districts in Malang City.
In every citizen visit, the Malang City Government also presents various public services that are directly in touch with the community. The outreach public services start from health services including Covid-19 vaccination, licensing, civil registration, taxes and other public services. (yul/yon)
