Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The General Election Commission (KPU) of Malang City inaugurated and swore in 171 members of the Malang City Voting Committee (PPS) for the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) at the Savana Hotel, Malang City, Tuesday (24/1/2023). The inauguration and oath-taking were carried out by the Chairperson of the Malang City KPU, Aminah Asminingtyas.
The Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji and the Head of the Malang City Bawaslu, Alim Mustofa, were also present at the inauguration procession. The Mayor of Malang, Sutiaji, expressed his deep appreciation for the enthusiasm and good intentions of the community who participated in the selection and were finally inaugurated as members of the Malang City PPS for the 2024 Election.
The badminton enthusiast hopes that the PPS members of Malang City can carry out their duties with full trust and oversee the democratic process so that it can run well. "This is a state expense, hopefully the PPS can carry out its duties well so that the quality of democracy can improve," said Sutiaji.
Moreover, currently the population data base used is NIK (Population Identification Number) so that there are no duplicate voters and so on. "The task of overseeing it will be a collaboration with Bawaslu to secure it," he added.
He further stated that the PPS has many tasks, including the Legislative Election, Presidential Election, and later the regional head elections at the provincial, city and district levels.
Meanwhile, Malang City KPU Chairperson Aminah Asminingtyas revealed that there were 171 members of the Malang City PPS who were inaugurated, with details of 117 men and 54 women. So it has fulfilled the representation of women of more than 30 percent.
"In the 2024 Election in Malang City, there will be 2.588 polling stations (TPS)," said Aminah.
From that number of TPS, it will be a joint reference with the activities of the Voter Update Committee (Pantarlih) which will begin in February 2023. Where the number will be the same as the number of TPS in Malang City.
Aminah added, the existence of the PPS that has been inaugurated is expected to be able to encourage and motivate KPPS officers who will later be on duty during the implementation of the Election. This PPS is the capital for the PPK and KPU of Malang City to implement the Election in order to produce a better democratic party compared to the implementation of previous elections. (cah/yon)
