Jakarta (malangkota.go.id) – After being left hanging in limbo for several years following the fire that occurred in 2016, the fate of the management of the Malang Grand Market (PBM) has finally become clear.
As previously known, a major fire occurred at the Matahari Pasar Besar Malang shopping center in 2016, which destroyed the shopping center so that it could not operate and suffered considerable material losses.
The impact is that the rights and obligations of both parties stated in the cooperation agreement become unclear because of the incident. The Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) also gave a recommendation to the Malang City Government to immediately discuss the continuation of this cooperation with PT. Matahari Putra Prima, Tbk (MPP).
This is certainly a special concern for the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji. The number one person in the Malang City Government wants the Pasar Besar problem to be solved immediately, especially since this problem is an old problem before his leadership era.
The bespectacled man immediately ordered his staff to communicate with PT. MPP to immediately sit together to discuss the continuation of the Pasar Besar management cooperation agreement signed in 2004.
This initiative was well received by both parties, namely the Malang City Government which was attended directly by the Mayor of Malang Sutiaji accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Malang City Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT along with the ranks of the Malang City Government met with representatives from PT. MPP at the Borobudur Hotel Jakarta, Tuesday (31/1/2023).
In this meeting, there was a fairly persistent dialogue because both parties had their own basis and arguments so that they had not yet reached a common ground, but in the end it was agreed to make a minutes of the results which would then be consulted with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Coordination and Supervision Team for Prevention (Korsupgah).
This step was chosen by the Mayor of Malang, who is often called Sam Sutiaji, and his staff as a form of caution in taking a policy discretion, because the results of the consultation with the KPK Korsupgah can be strong guidelines for both parties to make joint decisions and not harm each other.
As a result, after consulting with the KPK Korsupgah Team, both parties, namely the Malang City Government and PT. Matahari Putra Prima, Tbk also agreed to end the cooperation as stated in the termination agreement signed by both parties and ended with a happy ending.
In his closing statement, Sam Sutiaji admitted to being relieved and grateful, because one by one the problems could be unraveled and resolved according to the applicable provisions. "First of all, thank God. I am very relieved, because this is the best choice for both parties. Alhamdulillah, the results of the consultation with Korsupgah (KPK) are enlightening for all of us and get the best decision, this is a win-win solution," he explained.
Furthermore, Sutiaji emphasized that the principle of caution is the main thing. "I and the ranks (of Malang City Government) do not want to be cruel. This means that this is an old problem before my leadership era, but I must commit to resolving this so that whoever becomes mayor will not be confused by this problem anymore. I hope that in the future the relationship with PT. MPP can continue to improve, collaborating with each other to continue developing their business investments in Malang City," concluded Sutiaji.
