Different Ways Disabled People Commemorate World Leprosy Day

Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – World Leprosy Day is commemorated every January 29. This moment is well understood by people with disabilities in Malang who are members of the disabled nature lovers organization and headquartered at Perum GOR Ragil Regency A4, KedungKandang, Malang City.

Under the auspices of the Indonesian Social Circle (Linksos) institution, 13 disabled people and their companions held a jamboree which was realized by climbing several mountains.

As was done on January 28-31, 2023 yesterday. They climbed Mount Panderman which is located in the Batu City area. Various events were held, such as climbing safety education and sign language training. During the climb, they also took action to collect trash as a form of concern for the environment.

Linksos Indonesia Supervisor, Kertaning Tyas when contacted by telephone, Wednesday (01/02/2023) revealed that this jamboree will last until July 2023. On February 18-19, the man who is familiarly called Ken said the jamboree group will climb Mount Arjuno in Pasuruan Regency. While on March 11-12 to Mount Malang in the Tumpang area and until July it is targeted that 60 disabled people from various regions can participate in this jamboree.

Ken said that this jamboree is a form of solidarity of the disabled for leprosy sufferers. In addition, it is also an active role of the disabled in preserving the environment and nature and building an inclusive social and environmental ecosystem. "No less important, despite their limitations, the disabled have a great contribution to each other and nature," he said.

This activity also received appreciation from the Head of the Social Service, Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning (Dinsos-P3Ap2KB) of Malang City, Dra. Penny Indriani, MM.

According to him, the activity was very positive and could be an example for others. "We certainly feel proud, because even though they have limitations, they have a very high level of concern," he said. (say/yon)
