Helping MSMEs Move Up a Class, Diskopindag Holds Cookie Making Training

Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – As an effort to boost Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Malang City to move up a class, the Malang City Cooperatives, Industry and Trade Service (Diskopindag) held a Cookies/Dry Cake Making Training at the Montana Dua Hotel in Malang City, Monday (6/2/2023).

Head of the Malang City Trade and Industry Service, Eko Sri Yuliadi, giving a speech

Head of Malang City Trade and Industry Office, Dr. Eko Sri Yuliadi, S.Sos, MM revealed that the activity attended by 130 participants was a form of application from Malang City Trade and Industry Office in partnership with Commission B of Malang City DPRD.

In 2023, he said that the Malang City Trade and Industry Office is indeed moving from the micro-economic side. "Next year there is predicted to be a recession, so we, Trade and Industry Office, are taking the initiative to educate the community from those who do not have a business to have one, from micro to small, and from small to medium," explained Eko, Monday (6/2/2023).

In addition to providing coaching, training and follow-up with the provision of facilities to produce cookies, Diskopindag will also provide a marketing place, both online and offline.

"The online ones can go through the marketplace, while the offline ones can move in the community starting from the RT/RW level, we will help provide it. For example by holding a Sunday Market (in each sub-district)," said Eko.

This is done as a form of moving the micro economy in the community. For this reason, together with Commission B, Diskopindag is partnering to move the micro economy starting from the RT, RW to the sub-district to the district level.

Meanwhile, for the mechanism for distributing assistance for supporting facilities for MSME actors, the mechanism will be formed into clusters per sub-district in RT/RW. "Now the term is Thematic MSMEs, for example, the Sanan area is known for tempeh, the Purwantoro area is cookies, later we will create clusters like that," said Eko.

Meanwhile, one of the training participants, M. Mahmud Arif, admitted that he was very happy to have the opportunity to take part in the training on making cookies with Diskopindag. This is very good to help him develop new ideas in developing a cookie making business.

"So far, our dry cake business has been selling well during Eid al-Fitr, Christmas, and other big days. I hope that by participating in this training, we can be even better in developing our business," said Arif.

Similarly, another training participant from Tempe Sanan Village, Trinil Sri Wahyuni, said she was very happy with the training activities from Diskopindag. Because in Sanan Village, they are currently developing processed cookies from soybean skin.

"So far, Sanan Village has been known as Tempe Village. In our place, soybean skin waste is very abundant, so we develop it into cookies so that it has more economic value," said Trinil.

Currently in Kampung Sanan there are approximately 500 tempeh and chips craftsmen, so the potential is very good to be developed. Seeing this, Trinil who is also the Head of the Kampung Tempe Sanan Tourism Awareness Group wants to develop cookies made from soybean skin in the future so that they can become a tourism icon in Malang City.
