Malang City Transportation Agency Plans to Revitalize Angkot

Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The existence of online transportation has had quite an impact on city transportation (angkot). The average income of angkot drivers has decreased drastically, so that it has also had an impact on the cessation of operations of a number of angkot because income and expenses are not balanced and can even be at a loss.

Seeing this condition, the Malang City Government through the Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub) plans to revitalize public transportation. The definition of revitalization is very broad, and not only physically but also other things. Such as the creation of new routes and operating hours, maximizing the function of terminals, and stops.

Some of these things were conveyed by the Head of the Malang City Transportation Agency, Drs. R. Widjaja Saleh Putra when met, Tuesday (7/2/2023). This plan, he said, does require a long time, because it requires in-depth studies from various parties.

The man who is familiarly called Jaya added, for example, the involvement of traffic forums, academics and land transportation organizations (Organda) will be very decisive later. "Likewise related to the budget, of course it is not a little because the number of public transportation in Malang City is very large. We have not been able to determine whether this program can be started, but that is our thinking," he explained.

"In the current conditions, where information technology continues to develop, competition and the best service are unavoidable. We will also be part of it, such as related to travel time between terminals, official tariffs and complaints using the latest technology," concluded Widjaja. (say/yon)
