Prayers were also offered for the Turkish people who are currently in mourning due to being rocked by a major earthquake. At this moment, Deputy Chairman of PWI Malang Raya, Muhammad Taufiq invited journalists to remain professional and not to take sides when carrying out their profession.

According to him, the journalistic code of ethics and journalist competency test will be a filter, benchmark and mecca for professional journalists. "Thus, later this journalistic work will provide education, literacy and solutions for the community," he added.

Likewise, along with the progress of information technology, the media mainstream (mainstream media) must be more progressive, have accuracy and can be a reference for the community. "What is clear is this, the older you get, the more mature you must be. This means that this organization is one of the oldest organizations to be a mainstay for all journalists who are members of PWI," said Taufiq.

Appreciation, input and suggestions were delivered by the Mayor of Malang, Drs. H. Sutiaji who was also present at the HPN commemoration event. According to the bespectacled man, the work of journalism or media reporting has been good so far and should be even better in the future. "No less important, without the media, the work programs of an institution will not be conveyed to the public," he explained.

The number one person in the Malang City Government added that in the future the media challenges will be even tougher, because currently there are already many media platforms. "Data accuracy is directly attached to the morality and integrity of journalists. So that competency testing is a must," continued Sutiaji.

According to him, this is because the media carries extraordinary messages, such as moral force, agent of change and agent of education because it is one of the pillars of democracy. "So that when voicing truth and goodness, it is never opportunistic and not co-opted by anything," concluded Sutiaji. (say/yon)
