Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The yard of the Malang Mayor's Official Residence on Jalan Ijen No. 2 has been opened to the public, Sunday (12/2/2023). Not every day, the official residence which is included in the cultural heritage building is only opened every Sunday for the same duration as the implementation car Free Day namely 06.00 WIB to 10.00 WIB.
The area that can be enjoyed by visitors is not all, because it is only limited to the yard area of the official residence. The Mayor of Malang Drs. H. Sutiaji together with the Chairwoman of the Malang City PKK TP Widayati Sutiaji, S.Sos, MM on this occasion seemed to mingle and interact with the residents who came to visit.
Along with the opening of the Malang Mayor's Official Residence, the Malang City Health Service (Dinkes) also held free health services including Covid-19 vaccination, cholesterol and blood sugar checks, toddler stunting risk screening, health education, and also a food and beverage bazaar.
Sutiaji said the initial idea to open the mayor's official residence to the public was inspired by a photo of someone who took a photo of his feet on a doormat that said Malang Mayor's Official Residence. The photo seemed to show the pride of residents who were able to stop by the mayor's residence directly.
This is what then touched my heart to invite Malang City residents to stop by the Malang Mayor's Official Residence. "From there I, this house belongs to the people and we must also open it for the people," he said.
Previously, the intention to open the official residence for the general public had been in mind since two years ago. However, the plan had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and also the renovation of several parts of the official residence.
"In addition, we have also prepared photo spots. instagrammable. So it can be used for photos. And the intention (to open an official residence) can only be realized now," he added.
The Mayor of Malang, often called Sam Sutiaji, hopes that by opening the official residence to the public, his party can interact directly with the community. "So this is a public space that can be utilized. One of my goals is also to absorb the aspirations of the community," he said.
The bespectacled man further revealed that the opening of the official residence to the public can also be an educational event for the community about the status of the Mayor's Official Residence building which is included in the cultural heritage building based on the Decree of the Mayor of Malang Number 347 of 2018.
According to the Mayor of Malang, education about heritage buildings, especially those in Malang City, is also a form of appreciation for the work of their creators.
One of the interesting things that can be found when visiting this official residence is the photo spot with a background of a sedan car with a unique police number, namely N 1 KAH. Not just for a photo background, Sutiaji explained that this car can also be rented by the public for their happy day.
"We created this so that it can be used by our brothers and sisters who are getting married, or pre-wedding. In the future, you may be able to register via the application, while currently you can register manually via the General Section (Malang City Secretariat)," he said.
The number one person in the Malang City Government is grateful that the opening of the official residence for the general public has been responded to positively by the public. He saw the high enthusiasm of the public and also looked happy when they could enjoy the atmosphere of the official residence.
"If the public already knows, of course more people will come here. The public also looks happy and can enjoy it even for a moment. Because this is also an operation funded by the people, so hopefully the people can also enjoy this," he concluded. (iu/yon)
