Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Exactly one year before the 2024 Simultaneous General Election (Pemilu), today Tuesday (14/02/2023) the General Election Commission (KPU) launched the 2024 Election Parade. This event was attended by all district/city Regional Election Commissions (KPUD) virtually, including the Malang City KPUD. The theme carried was 'Election as a Means of National Integration'.
The Head of Malang City KPUD, Aminah Aminingtyas said that the theme was very appropriate. Because, in Indonesia including in Malang City, the people consist of various tribes, religions and cultures.
"We can interpret the theme so that the Simultaneous Elections that will be held on February 14, 2024 can run safely and smoothly. Let's make the various differences the key to the success of the election," he explained after attending the event.
The woman in hijab said that so far the implementation of the election in Malang City has been quite conducive and the level of community participation is high. In the 2019 election, the level of participation in Malang City was above the national target. "At the national level, the target is 75 percent but in Malang City it reached 80 percent," she explained.
For the Simultaneous Election, Aminah said that her party is targeting a minimum of 70 percent. Likewise for the white vote (golput), if in 2019 it was around 15 percent then in 2024 it must be below that number. "We will try our best and make various efforts to realize this, such as intensifying election socialization to all levels of society," she said.
The Head of Domestic Politics (Poldagri) Bakesbangpol Malang City, Silvia Ernawati, conveyed the same thing when she was present at the Malang City KPUD Office. In order to reduce the number of abstentions, her party has also and continues to routinely conduct election socialization for community groups.
As for prospective new voters, members of community organizations, youth organizations, religious and community leaders, to RT and RW heads. "From this effort, we hope that the election in Malang City will be conducive and the number of abstainers can be suppressed to a minimum," Silvia hoped. (say/yon)
