Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Under the coordination of the 3R facilitator (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Malang City, 350 personnel from various elements carried out a garbage collection action at the commemoration of National Waste Care Day (HPSN) which is commemorated every February 21. Through this action, it is hoped that it can provide education and increase public awareness of the importance of waste management.

Until now, handling, management and reuse of waste is still one of the problems for the community and government. Reflecting on this condition, 350 personnel consisting of students, university students and communities held a garbage collection action on Tuesday (21/2/2023). The action to commemorate National Waste Day targeted the Merdeka Square area and the Kayutangan Heritage tourist area.
Muttaqin Eko Wirawan as the chief executive said that this movement is also to invite the public to care about waste. In addition, his party also invites how the public can sort the types of waste produced in each of their households. "So that this step will make it easier for garbage collectors so that waste can be reused," he added.
According to the man who is familiarly called Wawan, every person in a day produces at least 500 grams of waste. At this moment, the man who is also the Head of the 3R Facilitator of Malang City also invited the community to take part in utilizing waste into useful items. Such as handicrafts in the form of tissue holders, photo holders, home decorations and compost fertilizer.
Although so far public awareness of waste management is still relatively low, Wawan admitted that he could not actually blame the public, but he would invite the public to collaborate with the community, government and other environmental activists. "Although this may be a bit late, if we can synergize with all elements, then later we can realize a waste-free program," he said.
On this occasion, the 3R Facilitator also held a short discussion on the dangers and utilization of waste for students in the Merdeka Square area of Malang City.
The community under the guidance of the Malang City Environmental Service (DLH) also symbolically distributed compost fertilizer to representatives of teachers and students. "From these various steps, it is hoped that it will help the government in handling and reusing waste," he concluded. (say/yon)
